We express our gratitude to Chris Robinson from St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Exton/Lionville, Pennsylvania for contributing his innovative ideas this month. He notes, "This particular skit was adapted from one of the skits in The Humongous Book of Bible Skits for Children's Ministry. I simplified it slightly and incorporated some humor. Frequently, I compose the skits based on the Bible reading of the day, selected from the International Children's Bible (ICB)."

Narrator: The Spirit led Jesus into the desert to be tempted by the devil. Jesus ate nothing for 40 days and nights. After this, he was very hungry.

Jesus: "Boy, am I hungry!"

Narrator: The devil came to Jesus to tempt him. The devil said,

Devil: "If you are the Son of God, tell these rocks to become bread."

Narrator: Jesus answered,

Jesus: "The Bible says, 'A person does not live by bread alone. They live by everything the Lord says.'"

Narrator: Then the devil led Jesus to the holy city of Jerusalem. He put Jesus on a very high place of the Temple. The devil said,

Devil: "If you are the Son of God - Jump! The Bible says, 'God's angels will take care of you. They will catch you so you don't stub your toe on a rock.'"

Narrator: Jesus answered him,

Jesus: "The Bible also says, 'Do not test the Lord your God.'"

Narrator: Then the devil led Jesus to the top of a very high mountain. He showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world and all the great things that are in those kingdoms. The devil said,

Devil: "If you will bow down and worship me, I will give you all these things.'"

Narrator: Jesus answered,

Jesus: "Go away from me, Satan! The Bible says, 'You must worship the Lord your God. Serve only him!'"

Narrator: So the devil left Jesus. And then some angels came to Jesus and helped him.
